First of all, I apologize for the lateness of this newsletter…I have just returned from an extended trip and got back to the most snow we’ve had since 1971…I’ve been told that we had at least 14’ of snow while I was away and I just got through shoveling more snow which fell yesterday!

Although no long-standing records were broken, 2007 brought new groups of extremely skilled fishermen…so we look forward to seeing new records in the future!  Bill McDavit leads the board with records for the largest lake trout and pike.  He even had the record for the largest small mouth bass at one point, but was overtaken several times over by a very solid Ohio group, of which one of them, Terry Wilson, ended up in a tie with Marc Nelon (who was part of another group of great fishermen from Montreal area).  The holder of the large mouth bass record, Jim Hendershot, was also part of the Ohio group.

Once again, the loyalty and support of my ever-growing “Moosehead family” has made it possible for me to get through the 2007 season.  It is always sad to lose members of our “family” and our prayers and condolences go out to the families of those we lost.  Also, a speedy recovery for those dealing with health problems and we hope to see you all back at Moosehead soon.

Happy New Year!  I hope that you all had a safe and healthy holiday season and are now looking forward to another year at Moosehead in 2007.

The 2006 fishing season was the best I've seen in recent years.  The opening season crowd did extremely well with lake trout averaging 4-5 pounds! Later on in the season, others did equally well with pike and bass.  We have a three-way tie for the small mouth bass at 4#, but some of you swear that you had at least a 7-pounder on the line but was unable to bring it in (Moosehead record is 6#).  In addition, we have a new category this year for large mouth bass.

Once again, I'd like to thank you all for your support and help.  There are so many of you who have helped me with so much here, especially Dave from NJ, Capt. Vic and his ERT, Albany Gang & Ottawa Gang.  I also had help from first time visitors...Joe from PA & Tech Guys from Ottawa whose generosity in giving up their time to help me is so much appreciated.  It is an honor to include them as new members of my "Moosehead family."

For those who missed coming to Moosehead due to health reasons, I wish you all a speedy recovery.  We're looking forward to seeing everyone here at Moosehead in 2007!
